2001: A Space Odyssey is a 1968 science-fiction film directed by Stanley Kubrick. The film is characterized by its slow pace and classical soundtrack. In its psychedelic climax, the protagonist cuts through dimensions after finding a mysterious monolith. A promotional poster was created for a proposed IMAX 70mm limited screening of the film in select theaters. Centered by the monolith, the poster reflects the film’s climax through abstracted imagery and calligraphic swashes set through a bit threshold. Accompanied by the poster are style frames for a proposed title sequence. Following the film’s iconic classical soundtrack, calligraphic swashes are set atop altered establishing shots.
