Its goal is to invigorate interest in films and filmmaking by making the medium accessible and exciting to casual movie fans. The platform features articles and reviews of both recent and older films as well as pieces on the craft and history of filmmaking. Accompanying the website is a quarterly magazine that covers the same topics in greater depth.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;The custom-drawn logotype nods to the angular forms of theater auditoriums and projection lights. Characterized by its legibility and subtle contrast, it has since become one of the world’s most widely used sans-serif typefaces. Though it was originally designed for newsprint, its versatility has allowed it to be used in many applications. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; This specimen booklet (alternatively titled Justice+Liberty) explores Franklin Gothic through the lens of the 1960s Civil Rights Movement, an epoch for which the typeface is particulary suited. Its origins in newsprint headlines make it ideal for relaying the movement’s protest signage. Tran https://andrewvtran.com/Star-Alliance Star Alliance: In-Aiport Digital Experience Mobile UI/UX DesignSponsor: Edenspiekermann I worked with Edenspiekermann to create a mobile prototype for an airline of Star Alliance that would elevate the layover experience between flights. I chose to focus on Asiana Airlines. The challenge was the assuage the many concerns that fliers had during layovers.&nbsp; I started by conducting research and gathering user data from anonymous surveys to identify key insights of the issues that fliers faced while in a layover. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The findings were used to create a user persona and user journey map for the typical economy flier at an airport. These helped guide the design for the three different scenarios for the mobile protoype, each one addressing a key issue found from the research. To create a logotype congruent with the show’s collage aesthetic, the proportions of the letterforms were modified through an analog process and then optimized and outlined for final use. Guided by the show’s yearbook concept, the main show poster is a collage made from class polaroids and school paraphernalia. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Working with the yearbook concept, we also decided to have our classmates design collage posters of themselves that would be displayed for friends and family to sign. I designed the poster templates for the individual designers with the BestWishes, logotype preceding the designer’s signature. To encourage compositions with depth, I introduced the idea of soft and hard margins. Many marijuana products, ranging from edibles to oils, are sourced from marijuana plants that were grown with pesticides that are harmful to the body if ingested repeatedly. Though the industry has been subject to stricter pesticide regulations, the full safety of marijuana products are still in question. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Cannabliss is a marijuana brand that provides organic, pesticide-free edible chocolate bars to users who wish to enjoy the benefits of marijuana without needing to worry about ingesting harmful agents into their body. A promotional poster was created for a proposed IMAX 70mm limited screening of the film in select theaters. Centered by the monolith, the poster reflects the film’s climax through abstracted imagery and calligraphic swashes set through a bit threshold. Accompanied by the poster are style frames for a proposed title sequence. The bottle’s label depicts a crew of sailors traversing unkind waters. Overlaid between global nautical charts and port routes is a historical Rembrandt seascape that has been lost to time.
